County Durham Foundation is a community foundation - they allow you to decide what happens to your money and how it is spent, unlike when you donate to other charities.

If you decide to become a County Durham Foundation fund holder they can set up your fund with the minimum of bureaucracy, fuss and cost to yourself.

As a fund holder you can have as much or as little say in how your fund is used as you wish including making the decisions over who to support. With the added security of knowing that each grant given is backed up by a detailed seven-stage assessment process delivered by them to you, using their professional expertise and knowledge of the local community to ensure that your support only goes to those that really need it.

To make a real difference, it's easy to set up your own fund, either in your life-time or by leaving a legacy. You can have:

“Joanne is an extremely experienced grant assessor and has undertaken regular work on behalf of County Durham Community Foundation for many years now.  She has a flair for providing unbiased, factual, detailed assessments reports which help grants’ panel members make informed choices about where to target our funding.   She is particularly adept at scrutinising accounts and budgets to present accurate financial information about individuals, organisations and projects.

Joanne was the obvious choice when we needed to recruit a consultant to manage the distribution of a £700k fund in less than 3 months.  I’m delighted that she continues to be involved in our work.”
